Garda (from Warda = guard, lookout, place of observation post, survillance etc.) is positioned at the centre of an ample gulf, between “La Rocca” and “Punta S. Vigilio”.
Garda has a characteristic town centre, with old rustic houses, winding lanes and small squares. Fishing is still quite important and kept alive by spectacular festivals one of which is the “Sardellata al Pal del Vò” (a sardine feast), that is held in July, during the evening of the full moon, on the lake.
The vast hinterland offers a great number of interesting walks/hikes and a wide range of sports.
